ZIM Shipping and CMA-CGM wrapped up the 3Q container-line earnings reports with revenue growth of 27% and 28% respectively. Both companies achieved average rate growth of 14%, beating Hapag-Lloyd’s 4% but lagging Maersk’s 17% improvement. As a result the container-line sector’s revenues grew 13% (or 16% ex Hanjin Shipping), beating the freight-forwarders’ 10% and tanker / bulker operators’ 1%.
