The USDA has certified Mexico as being free from Swine Fever, greatly increasing the potential market for Mexican farmers. Their exports had already climbed 21% in the past 12 months to November 30, including hitting a record in October of $53 million. The number one market currently for Mexican pork is Japan, though South Korea has grown rapidly with a 31% increase in the past year. Rising Mexican exports will hurt Canadian suppliers.
