EsThe Australian trade minister visits Colombia and Chile this week. Trade with Chile has dropped 55% in the past year, but this has been due to weaker copper prices and demand. The benefits of Chile’s 2009 free trade agreement with Australia is clear. Panjiva data shows the scale of trade with Chile is 6x that of Colombia Panjiva, even though Chile and Colombia’s GDPs are similar. The minister will therefore seek to sign an FTA with Colombia.
