U.S. seaports have yet to experience any relief from elevated demand for services. Containerized freight imports in February were 88,296 TEUs per day on average, up by 24.7% versus a year earlier, 15.4% higher than the same point in 2019 and just 3.0% lower than the Q4’20 peak season. In January and February combined, seaborne imports to the U.S. climbed by 18.2% year over year. The largest ports once again led the way with shipments to LA and Long Beach rising by 32.9% year over year while those to Newark and New York were up by 27.3%.
