Container handling at California’s big three ports climbed 6% on a year earlier in August. Imports climbed 7% while exports dropped 11%. That reflects a similar pattern to Virginia’s ports, and suggests room for a further increase in the U.S. trade deficit. Export handling at Long Beach slumped 26%.
