Container handling through the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach fell 11% on a year earlier in March, the first drop since February 2017. That’s likely due to seasonal effects following the lunar new year, which contributed to a 29% slump in inbound shipments to Los Angeles. Of more concern is a 15% drop in exports from LA, which contributed to export growth from California (including Oakland) of just 1% for the first quarter.
