Imaging-system specialist Eastman Kodak has announced a blockchain-based image management system and a cryptocurrency to support digital rights payments. The shares doubled, partly on “bitcoin mania” and partly as it reflects a further attempt to reduce the impact of a declining physical sales business. The company’s revenues have fallen every quarter on a year-over-year basis since 4Q 2014. The revenues for 4Q 2017 may also have declined, with U.S. seaborne imports by the company having fallen by 4% on a year earlier, bringing the 2017 total to a 9% drop.
