The Port of Charleston handled 14% more containers in November than a year earlier, the fastest growth since February 2015. An 18% increase in import traffic, outpacing the national average of 8%, was the main driver. This in turn was due to a 32% rise in imports from China, Panjiva data shows, which would suggest heavy use of the Panama Canal by leading shippers on the route including Evergreen and Maersk.
