Container handling through Charleston, as part of the South Carolina ports system, climbed by the fastest rate seen since June 2017 (16%) and set a record high for a single month of handling. Importantly the port also bucked the national trend of flat- or lower volumes in August vs. July (they rose by 2%) suggesting the impact of the U.S.-China trade war has been minimal so far.
