CMA CGM, Cosco grow as Seattle-Tacoma finds blank sailings rule the waves

Container freight handling through Seattle and Tacoma’s ports dipped 13.8% year over year in August, including a 7.4% slide in imports that bucked a national trend of improving volumes. The port has been particularly susceptible to blanked sailings, a strategy used by the container-lines to manage capacity and maintain profitability in the face of COVID-19 weakened demand.
