South Carolina’s ports saw a surge in traffic in February with a 13.5% rise in imports of loaded containers. The latter was all the more remarkable for including an 8.2% rise in shipments from China. While that was markedly better than seen in California’s ports, it reflects the longer shipping times to the east coast and hence the likelihood of a delayed impact of the coronavirus-linked disruptions.
