The European Commission has implemented anti-dumping duties on Chinese cast iron product exports of up to 38%. While that’s a mainstream trade case it should be seen against the backdrop of the arrangements with Japan and the U.S. to tackle “excess capacity” industries. Chinese exports of the products concerned to the EU fell 7% on a year earlier in the 12 months to November 30 to reach $153 million. That compared to a peak of $212 million in 2014.
