The Economic Partnership Agreement free trade deal between the EU and Japan has now come into effect. It could provide significant opportunities to increase agricultural and food trade between the two countries. EU exports to Japan of food and beverages were worth just 5.42 billion euros ($6.18 billion) in the 12 months to Nov. 30. That was just 0.3% of EU exports to Japan whereas food and beverages represented 3.3% of EU exports globally.
