Evergreen Marine has followed Hyundai MM in cutting a Transatlantic service from Europe to North America. As was the case with Hyundai MM that may be driven by a desire to rationalize services after Evergreen’s profitability (EBITDA margin) fell to 5% in the first quarter from 8% a year earlier. The market share of the lanes that match Evergreen’s TAX service rose to 5.4% from 5.2% a year earlier in the March 1 to May 24 period but it was still only a distant sixth place in the carrier rankings for that routing.
