Global clean energy spending dropped 18% last year, according to BNEF, and trade data shows the U.S. is falling behind. Fourth quarter solar power imports dropped 31%, led by an 82% slump in shipments from China. That came after a series of trade cases increased tariffs. There was more of the same in January, with U.S. solar power equipment imports having dropped 39% on a year earlier and wind power kit fell 29%.
