Initial port data from Chinese ports shows a mixed picture for Chinese trade. COSCO Shipping Ports’ mainland China operations achieved a 14% rise in handling in February, or 12% when combined with January. That was led by a surge in activity in the Bohai Rim ports, with a 23% rise driven in part by the restructuring of the Dalian operations last year. Hong Kong by contrast slid 6% on a year earlier, with COSCO’s facilities having fallen 3%.
