Hong Kong’s High Kicking Growth Beats COSCO Pacific’s Sluggish Yangtze

Hong Kong’s ports handled 26% more traffic in February compared to a year earlier, the fastest rate since at least 2008. However, that was in part due to a very weak 2016 as the 1.44 million TEU handled was the same as 2015’s level. It did mean though that Hong Kong outpaced all the major Chinese ports except Guangzhou. COSCO Pacific’s Chinese ports lagged, with only a 1% increase after a 4% decline in handling at its Yangtze River ports.
