Hyundai Merchant Marine may withdraw from its slot-sharing arrangement with the 2M Alliance on Europe-North America lines. That’s not surprising for two reasons. Firstly the company is rationalizing its operations after facing a decline in profitability. Second the container-line has seen a steady decline in volumes on Europe-to-U.S. lanes, with volumes in the three months to April 30 having fallen by 37% on a year earlier.
