Kinder Morgan has received approval to enhance its natural gas export facilities for trade with Mexico, with initial flows set for 2020. While the Mexican government has been seeking to reduce its energy import dependence there has been a marked surge in demand for natural gas. Imports by pipeline and via liquefied natural gas climbed 41.2% year over year in the 12 months to Feb. 28 to reach $5.55 billion. Imports of LNG climbed 27.0% with key suppliers including Trafigura – which shipped $428 million from the U.S. and Trinidad & Tobago – as well as Royal Dutch Shell and Cheniere Energy....
