Tesla’s third quarter revenues are expected to jump 149% on a year earlier according to a Financial Times survey. Panjiva data shows that Tesla’s exports to China, around 9% of total revenues, climbed 260% in the three months to August 31. Total U.S. imports of lithium ion batteries, including those produced by Tesla suppliers Panasonic and Samsung, jumped 29% in the three months to September 30. Tesla’s own battery production, in its recently opened Gigafactory, will need lithium oxides and carbonates. U.S. imports of these jumped 94% in aggregate on a year earlier in the third quarter....
