U.S. solar energy equipment imports dropped to their lowest since April 2010 in January, with shipments from Mexico close to and Chinese supplies 87% lower than a year earlier. That likely reflects installers’ reactions to the Trump administration’s energy policies. The pattern likely continued in February with a further 53% drop in seaborne imports on a year earlier. Hanwha Q-Cells led the pack, both in absolute terms as leading supplier and in increasing its shipments as a result of its unique position in supplying from South Korea.
