Container handling through the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach grew for a seventh straight month in September, rising 13% on a year earlier. Long Beach led the way with a 28% surge, though the comparable month last year included the failure of Hanjin Shipping. Both ports saw exports lag imports, with LA’s exports actually falling 12% – the first time since June 2016.
