Mexico’s attempt to boost exports of Pemex’s Maya crude to the U.S., reported by Bloomberg, is much needed. Panjiva data shows Mexican crude oil exports fell 17% in August, the ninth straight decline. Exports to the U.S. have been east-coast focussed so far, and market share has been falling. In September it garnered a 10% share of U.S. seaborne crude imports vs. 17% a year earlier.
