Morocco Squeezed as USDA Restricts Citrus Fruit Exports

Ags - Fruit/Veg 133 Morocco 9 Tariffs 1795 U.S. 5318

The USDA has restricted imports of certain citrus fruit from Morocco due to insect infestation concerns, which follows a similar restriction from January to October 2016. The main shipment season for Moroccan suppliers including Domaine Elboura is from November to February. In the past 12 months through October 31 total U.S. imports climbed 10%, whereas imports from Morocco fell 20%, Panjiva data shows. Chilean suppliers have made up the difference, and increased their shipments 31% over the same period.
