Nakilat Revenues Inflate While Bahri Skids on Oil Tanker Rates

Qatar Gas Transport (Nakilat) reported revenues that increased 17% on a year earlier, the 13th straight rise. That suggests the embargo placed on Qatar by four neighboring countries has not had an effect. The company faces “challenges ahead”, which may refer to an emerging glut of LNG. Regional peer, oil tanker operator Bahri meanwhile saw a 24% drop in revenues, blamed on lower tanker rates. Market rates were unchanged for the year. Panjiva analysis indicates the tanker industry more broadly may see revenues fall 5% in the second quarter on a year earlier.
