New High for Southeast PCCI in October as Hurricane Shrugged Off

Air cargo handled by Miami-Dade International fell 2% in October on a year earlier, partly reflecting the impact of Hurricane Matthew earlier in the month. The burden fell on international exports, which dropped 5% and suggests the region’s consumer goods exporters underperformed the nation more broadly. A 12% jump in seafreight, led by Savannah despite its five day closure, meant the Panjiva Combined Cargo Index for the southeast region climbed 7% on a year earlier to its highest since the start of the series in 2011.
