Nissan Chooses Supply Chain Links Over Brexit Risks

Nissan has chosen to retain, and expand, auto production in the U.K. despite the forthcoming Brexit negotiations and tariff risk. It may have calculated that disrupting its global supply chain is costlier than lost competitiveness in EU sales. Panjiva data shows U.K.-to-U.S. exports jumped 49% in the third quarter on a year earlier while U.K.-to-Mexico fell 5%. The U.S. is a growing market for Nissan – Japan-to-U.S. shipments climbed 20% and Mexico-to-U.S. increased 5% over the same period.
