Nothing Special About New York as Growth Hits 14 Month High

Corp - Ports 909 Mode - Containerized 1524 Mode - Seaborne 1845 U.S. 5399

Container handling through the Ports of New York and New Jersey increased by 12% on a year earlier in April, the fastest rate of growth since February 2016. That also meant the 12 month rolling average only fell by 1.4%, a figure that should reverse once the Bayonne Bridge raising is completed in June. As with the rest of the country growth was led by imports, with loaded containers incoming rising by 14% due to higher deliveries from China, Panjiva data shows. Again as elsewhere exports lagged significantly, with growth of just 4%.
