Savannah’s 19 Month Growth Streak Faces China Duty Risks

Container handling by the Georgia Ports Authority, including Savannah, climbed 3% on a year earlier in May. That was driven in large part by a 16% surge in exports of loaded containers and resulted in the 19th straight month of growth. Loaded imports however only grew by 4% due to a slowdown in volume growth from China. Volumes shipped from China were unchanged on a year earlier after 5% growth in April.
