Container handling through the Port of Savannah climbed 32% on a year earlier in October to hit a new record of over 409,000 TEUs. Notably exports of loaded containers grew more quickly than imports for the first time since February. Imports from China led the way – likely due to the Panama Canal widening – and may have crowded out shipments from the EU, which fell by 23%.
