Taiwan’s exports in August grew 1%, slightly better than expected by economists, and appear to be driven by a strong expansion in semiconductors. Exports of chips rose 21%, outpacing an unchanged level of shipments of consumer electronics. This marks a contrast to Malaysian semiconductor exports to China, which experienced a 17% drop in July.
