Container handling through Taiwan’s main three ports fell 7% in July, an acceleration from the prior month’s 3% decline and a fourth straight drop. The smaller ports of Keelung and Taichung outperformed Kaohsiung. That leaves Taiwan well behind its Asian peers, with Singapore leading the pack with an 11% rate of growth. A recent slowdown in Chinese export growth may mean the broader expansion in Asian shipping has a shortening shelf life.
