Electric vehicle maker Tesla reported a 40.0% year over year rise in sales in Q1, compared to a 13.3% drop seen by all U.S. automakers. The firm’s now having to cut production though with a knock-on effect to the EV supply chain. Total U.S. imports of lithium ion batteries for vehicles fell by 49.9% year over year in January and February combined including a switch to supplies from Japan instead of South Korea.
