Thailand’s exports jumped 9% on a year earlier in March, well ahead of the 2% expected by economists. China was the main driver of growth – shipments increased 27% on a year earlier. Seaborne shipments to the U.S. climbed 14%, the ninth straight month of growth. While a large proportion of the expansion was driven by tire exports, home appliance shipments including ovens, dishwashers, washing machines and refrigerators all climbed. That raises the risk of new trade cases by the U.S. against Samsung Electronics once the Commerce Department completes its review of trade deficit drivers.
