The Trump administration’s support for development of the domestic nuclear fuel industry is starting to bear fruit with Energy Fuels Inc. raising funds to develop mines in four states including Arizona. Panjiva’s data shows that the U.S. imported $2.80 billion worth of uranium ore and processed products annually over the past three years. In 2019 supplies were dominated by the EU – including shipments linked to Framatome – representing 48.7% of U.S. imports . On top of that was a further 22.2% from Canada.
