The U.K.’s trade performance in July was largely expected, with a 9.5% climb in exports resulting from an 18% weaker pound – the result of the Brexit vote. Exports to the U.S. increased 6% in sterling terms, with shipments rising for a seventh straight month according to Panjiva data. For August U.S. shipments rose a further 10%, and while a CBI survey shows managers expect global exports to fall, they are less pessimistic than before.
