Brazil’s commodity exports are feeling the disruptive impact of COVID-19 on shipping, production and demand which has come on top of normal harvest and regulatory challenges. Exports of sugar for example are waiting up to 29 days for ships at the port of Santos which accounted for 78.5% of shipments in the 12 months to April 30. Shipments had risen by 65.6% year over year in April, albeit from a low base after two years of lower exports.
