Ericsson supply chain shifts as Samsung launches IP suit

Samsung Electronics has filed an intellectual property infraction complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission regarding Ericsson’s imports of 5G mobile base stations. That may lead to cross-licensing but won’t help telecoms supply chains that have already been disrupted by the U.S.-China trade war. U.S. imports of base stations have yet to take off, rising by just 1.7% year over year in the three months to Nov. 30. Imports from Mexico have nonetheless surged 49.7% higher.
