Global trade rebound in December likely to prove short-lived

Global trade activity improved by 0.5% year over year in December according to CPB World Monitor, reversing six months of declines. That was mostly the result of a 6.2% surge in exports from China, while many developing economies were left behind. Trade activity in the new year has likely taken a step backwards.
