External trade between the EU and the rest of the world fell by 28.0% year over year in May, an acceleration from the 25.9% downturn seen in April after COVID-19 continued to take a toll on industrial activity. Trade with the U.K. remained weak with imports down 30.5% while exports to the world outside the EU having dropped by 29.7%.
