Chinese smartphone maker Huawei has failed in its bid to secure a sales contract with AT&T for the U.S. market, and will instead continue an independent sales approach for the market. The company otherwise appears to have been successful in its global sales efforts, with Chinese exports that rose 21% in the past three months to November 30 on a year earlier. The U.S. had so far been a minor market, accounting for just $314 million of phone exports in the past year. Its sales of parts and network equipment have been largely frozen out of the U.S. due to national security concerns.
