The Port of Felixstowe is suffering ongoing disruptions to container-handling after the introduction of new IT systems. Those could reportedly take two months to clear and come at a bad time after the port’s handling fell 8% in the first quarter. The most exposed container-lines on U.K.-to-U.S. routes are Maersk and MSC with 82% and 16% respectively of handling on the routes in the past 12 months. Both have implemented short-term reassignments, but may choose a more permanent move given both previously ran significant shipments from Southampton until March 2017.
