Mexico Delivers Deals as the EU Triangulates Against Trump

Mexico has signed an expanded trade deal with the EU that focuses on lower goods duties among other areas, as well as formally ratifying the CPTPP. The deals come as Mexico’s trade boom continued for the 18th month out of the past 20, with a 7% rise on a year earlier helped by surging oil prices. The timing of the deal with the EU matters for Mexico has trade growth slowed to 2% in March from 10% in the first quarter and 16% in the prior three quarters. For the EU the agreement with Mexico follows the CETA deal with Canada and comes as its relations with the U.S. stand at a turning point...
