The U.S. logistics industry has continued to face pressure from surging seaborne imports with a 20.0% year over year increase in all shipments and a 15.7% rise in containerized freight. Clearing existing backlogs is one reason for the growth, with the 2.80 million TEUs (20-foot equivalent container units) of imports in January being the second highest monthly total on record.
