Brazil’s sugar exports expanded 50% in August, according to Panjiva data, and its exporters are finding new export markets. The Al Reef Sugar Refinery in Saudi Arabia will source around 40% of its requirements from Brazil, and is due to open in mid-2018. Middle East buyers, including United Sugar in Saudi Arabia, will significantly increase their share of Brazil’s production.
