Taiwan’s export orders fell 3.5% in July vs. a year earlier – much worse than economists expected. Within the data, orders from the U.S. were better than average, but weak orders outside electronics and information / communications suggest industrial product orders globally dropped 6%. This bodes ill for shipment volumes, yet Evergreen’s 41% increase in U.S.-bound shipments in July suggests they have been taking an aggressive approach to market share to compensate.
