South Korea’s ports’ container handling climbed 6% on a year earlier in August, led by an 11% growth in international traffic. In turn the biggest driver was Busan port’s 10% rise in export handling. It also led on trans-Pacific routes with U.S.-bound shipments rising 4% vs. a 33% decline for all other South Korean ports. Yet, South Korea has lagged mainland China – which grew 11% – and Singapore’s 10% expansion.
