Trucking firms have experienced a marked decline in volumes crossing the U.S.-Mexico border due to COVID-19 related industrial shutdowns. Averitt Express has indicated business had “virtually stopped” since mid-March in the autos haulage sector and may not normalize until June. Total Mexican exports by truck to the U.S. fell by 29.9% year over in April, faster than those by air or sea which declined by just 11.7% and 3.2% respectively.
