Cyclone Mora Brings Potential for Bangladeshi Apparel Supply Disruption

Bangladesh 36 Cons. Discr. - Apparel 500 Coronavirus 511 Corp - Ports 883 Mode - Seaborne 1805 U.S. 5324

Cyclone Mora, currently measured at the highest rating, has caused mass evacuations and may cause infrastructure damage in Bangladesh. It isn’t clear whether shipping will be disrupted yet via the port of Chittagong. Growth through the port has been critical to Bangladesh’s economy. Panjiva data shows that shipping to the U.S. has doubled in the past 12 months via the port, with 70% of shipments relating to the apparel industry. The largest consignees in the U.S. receiving products from the port are Henry W. Peabody Inc and Intex Supply.
